dc.description.abstract	La siguiente investigación cuantifica la eficiencia técnica económica y el riesgo de las variables de producción del cultivo de arroz en la Región del Maule y la Región del Bío-Bío de Chile. Los determinantes de eficiencia técnica-económica y riesgo son analizados bajo la metodología de investigación Fronteras Estocásticas de Producción y una aproximación del modelo Just and Pope. El análisis empírico se realiza a través de datos de corte transversales, de los productores de arroz de la temporada 2012-2013 en cultivos regionales anteriormente nombrados. Las conclusiones más importantes indican que las variables que más aportan a la salida es la maquinaria y los fertilizantes por parte de los insumos, luego destaca la mano de obra como otro de los factores que aumentan la salida, aunque todos las variables aportan a la eficiencia técnica. Con todo la eficiencia media de los productores de arroz que son objeto de esta investigación alcanza un 82%. Cabe destacar que la mayoría de los productores de arroz se encuentran en el rango de eficiencia entre un 75% y un 95%. Los factores que disminuyen el riesgo son la Mano de obra y el Fertilizante, mientras los que lo aumentan son la Maquinaria y los Pesticidas.	es
dc.description.abstract-2	The following research quantifies the economic technical efficiency and risk for rice production variables in the Chilean regions of Maule and Bío- Bío. The technical - economic determinants of risk and efficiency are analyzed under the research methodology called Stochastic Frontiers Production and an approximation of the model Just and Pope. The empirical analysis is done through cross sectional data of rice farmers in the 2012-2013 season in the previously mentioned regional crops. The key findings indicate that variables that contribute to the production functioning output the most importantly are the machinery and fertilizers for the concept of supplies, and then labor cost is demonstrated to appear as one of other essential factors that increase output, although all the variables increase the technical-economic efficiency. Yet the average efficiency of rice farmers who are subject of this investigation reaches 82%. It is necessary to note that most rice farmers are placed within the efficient range, achieving between 75% and 95% of efficiency. Factors that decrease risk include labor costs and fertilizers, while those that increase it are machinery and pesticides.	en
