THERE IS A LACK OF RELIABLE AND ACCESSIBLE PREDICTORS FOR PREECLAMPSIA-RELATED CEREBRAL COMPLICATIONS. IN THIS STUDY, PLASMA FROM WOMEN WITH PREECLAMPSIA (N = 28), WOMEN WITH NORMAL PREGNANCIES (N = 28) AND NON-PREGNANT WOMEN (N = 16) WAS ANALYZED FOR CONCENTRATIONS OF THE CEREBRAL BIOMARKERS NEUROFILAMENT LIGHT (NFL), TAU, NEURON-SPECIFIC ENOLASE (NSE) AND S100B. THEN, AN IN VITRO BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER (BBB) MODEL, BASED ON THE HUMAN CEREBRAL MICROVASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL CELL LINE (HCMEC/D3), WAS EMPLOYED TO ASSESS THE EFFECT OF PLASMA FROM THE THREE STUDY GROUPS. TRANSENDOTHELIAL ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE (TEER) WAS USED AS AN ESTIMATION OF BBB INTEGRITY. NFL AND TAU ARE PROTEINS EXPRESSED IN AXONS, NSE IN NEURONS AND S100B IN GLIAL CELLS AND ARE USED AS BIOMARKERS FOR NEUROLOGICAL INJURY IN OTHER DISEASES SUCH AS DEMENTIA, TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AND HYPOXIC BRAIN INJURY. PLASMA CONCENTRATIONS OF NFL, TAU, NSE AND S100B WERE ALL HIGHER IN WOMEN WITH PREECLAMPSIA COMPARED WITH WOMEN WITH NORMAL PREGNANCIES (8.85 VS. 5.25 NG/L, P < 0.001; 2.90 VS. 2.40 NG/L, P < 0.05; 3.50 VS. 2.37 ?G/L, P < 0.001 AND 0.08 VS. 0.05 ?G/L, P < 0.01, RESPECTIVELY). PLASMA CONCENTRATIONS OF NFL WERE ALSO HIGHER IN WOMEN WITH PREECLAMPSIA COMPARED WITH NON-PREGNANT WOMEN (P < 0.001). METODOLOGÍA: ESTUDIO OBSERVACIONAL DESCRIPTIVO DE CORTE TRANSVERSAL EN 238 JEFES DE HOGAR DE UNA COMUNIDAD DE CHILE. SE MIDIERON NIVELES DE ESTRÉS CON ESCALA DE ESTRÉS PERCIBIDO, LOS NIVELES DE ANSIEDAD CON INVENTARIO DE ANSIEDAD DE BECK, LOS NIVELES DE RESILIENCIA CON ESCALA DE RESILIEN-CIA SV-RES Y LA FUNCIONALIDAD FAMILIAR CON APGAR FAMILIAR. RESULTADOS PRINCIPALES: EL 93% DE LOS JEFES DE HOGAR EXPERIMENTÓ ESTRÉS, EL 65% INFOR-MÓ DE ANSIEDAD LEVE EN FAMILIAS ALTAMENTE FUNCIONALES, Y MÁS DEL 50% DEMOSTRÓ UN NIVEL MODERADO DE RESILIENCIA, CON UN 18% EN NIVEL BAJO, INDE-PENDIENTEMENTE DE LA FUNCIONALIDAD FAMILIAR. CONCLUSIÓN PRINCIPAL: LA ELEVADA INCIDENCIA DE ESTRÉS, ANSIEDAD Y NIVELES MODERADOS Y BAJOS DE RESI-LIENCIA EN LOS JEFES DE HOGAR RESALTA LA NECESIDAD DE FUTURAS ESTRATEGIAS DE APOYO EN EL ÁMBITO DE LA ENFERMERÍA. - PublicaciónINVESTIGATING MATERNAL BRAIN ALTERATIONS IN PREECLAMPSIA: THE NEED FOR A MULTIDISCIPLINARY EFFORT(CURRENT HYPERTENSION REPORTS, 2019)

RECENT FINDINGS: THE PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF ECLAMPSIA REMAINS ENIGMATIC. ANIMAL STUDIES SHOW THAT THE CEREBRAL CIRCULATION IN PREGNANCY AND PREECLAMPSIA MIGHT BE AFFECTED WITH INCREASED PERMEABILITY OVER THE BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER AND ALTERED CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW DUE TO IMPAIRED CEREBRAL AUTOREGULATION. THE INCREASED BLOOD PRESSURE CANNOT BE THE ONLY UNDERLYING CAUSE OF ECLAMPSIA AND CEREBRAL EDEMA, SINCE SOME CASES OF ECLAMPSIA ARISE WITHOUT SIMULTANEOUS HYPERTENSION. FINDINGS FROM ANIMAL STUDIES NEED TO BE CONFIRMED IN HUMAN TISSUES. EVALUATION OF BRAIN ALTERATIONS IN PREECLAMPSIA AND ECLAMPSIA IS CHALLENGING AND DEMANDS A MULTIDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION, SINCE NO SINGLE METHOD CAN ACCURATELY AND FULLY DESCRIBE HOW PREECLAMPSIA AFFECTS THE BRAIN. CEREBRAL COMPLICATIONS OF PREECLAMPSIA ARE SIGNIFICANT FACTORS IN MATERNAL MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY WORLDWIDE. NO SINGLE METHOD CAN ACCURATELY DESCRIBE THE FULL PICTURE OF HOW PREECLAMPSIA AFFECTS THE BRAIN VASCULATURE AND PARENCHYMA. LOS RESULTADOS DE LA ESCALA FUERON SOMETIDOS A PRUEBAS PSICOMÉTRICAS. RESULTADOS PRINCIPALES: LA ESCALA CICAA PRESENTÓ 29 COMPONENTES CON SUS RESPECTIVOS AUTOVALORES Y CUATRO COMPONENTES PRINCIPALES QUE SUMAN UN 67,782% DE LA VARIANZA TOTAL EXPLICADA. LA CONSISTENCIA INTERNA GLOBAL DE LA ESCALA PRESENTÓ UN COEFICIENTE ?-CRONBACH DE 0,956. CONCLUSIÓN PRINCIPAL: LA ESCALA CICAA HA MOSTRADO SER UN INSTRUMENTO FIABLE Y VÁLIDO PARA EVALUAR HABILIDADES COMUNICACIONALES DE ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA EN SIMULACIONES CLÍNICA DE ALTA FIDELIDAD. - PublicaciónTHE GPI-ANCHORED PROTEIN THY-1/CD90 PROMOTES WOUND HEALING UPON INJURY TO THE SKIN BY ENHANCING SKIN PERFUSION(INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES, 2022)
;JOSÉ MANUEL LEÓN PINOCARLOS ALONSO ESCUDERO OROZCOWOUND HEALING IS A HIGHLY REGULATED MULTI-STEP PROCESS THAT INVOLVES A PLETHORA OF SIGNALS. BLOOD PERFUSION IS CRUCIAL IN WOUND HEALING AND ABNORMALITIES IN THE FORMATION OF NEW BLOOD VESSELS DEFINE THE OUTCOME OF THE WOUND HEALING PROCESS. THY-1 HAS BEEN IMPLICATED IN ANGIOGENESIS AND SILENCING OF THE THY-1 GENE RETARDS THE WOUND HEALING PROCESS. HOWEVER, THE ROLE OF THY-1 IN BLOOD PERFUSION DURING WOUND CLOSURE REMAINS UNCLEAR. WE PROPOSED THAT THY-1 REGULATES VASCULAR PERFUSION, AFFECTING THE HEALING RATE IN MOUSE SKIN. WE ANALYZED THE TIME OF RECOVERY, BLOOD PERFUSION USING LASER SPECKLE CONTRAST IMAGING, AND TISSUE MORPHOLOGY FROM IMAGES ACQUIRED WITH A NANOZOOMER TISSUE SCANNER. THE LATTER WAS ASSESSED IN A TISSUE SAMPLE TAKEN WITH A BIOPSY PUNCH ON SEVERAL DAYS DURING THE WOUND HEALING PROCESS. RESULTS OBTAINED WITH THE THY-1 KNOCKOUT (THY-1-/-) MICE WERE COMPARED WITH CONTROL MICE. THY-1-/- MICE SHOWED AT DAY SEVEN, A DELAYED RE-EPITHELIALIZATION, INCREASED MICRO- TO MACRO-CIRCULATION RATIO, AND LOWER BLOOD PERFUSION IN THE WOUND AREA. IN ADDITION, SKIN MORPHOLOGY DISPLAYED A FLATTER EPIDERMIS, FEWER RIDGES, AND ALMOST NO STRATUM GRANULOSUM OR CORNEUM, WHILE THE DERMIS WAS THICKER, SHOWING MORE FIBROBLASTS AND FEWER LYMPHOCYTES. OUR RESULTS SUGGEST A CRITICAL ROLE FOR THY-1 IN WOUND HEALING, PARTICULARLY IN VASCULAR DYNAMICS.
